The most interesting places to visit in South Bali are the town of Denpasar, Kuta, Legian and Seminyak, Sanur, Tanah Lot, Jimbaran, the UluWatu temple, Nusa Dua, Mengwi, Tabanan. Other popular destinations, such as Ubud, Kintamani and Benoa, are within easy reach. Also interesting are the three islands off the coast of Sanur, Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida, all of which can be reached by boat from Sanur.

 

The Central Bali

Central Bali

Central Bali is the most mountaneous area of Bali. In this part of Bali you will find the more isolated and thus more traditional places of Bali. For example, in the mountains one can find the Bali Aga or mountain Balinese, such as in Trunyan at the shores of Lake Batur. The Bali Aga consider themselves as descendants from the ‘pure’ or original inhabitants of Bali.

The most well known places in Central Bali are Ubud, Bedugul, Candi Kuning, the botanical gardens of Bedugul, Kintamani, Batur, Catur, Tampaksiring, Tirta Gangga (the water palace).

Central Bali can easily be reached from the South of Bali (Kuta/Sanur) as well as from the North of Bali (Singaraja), with an average travel time of 1 hour by car, depending on the amount of traffic on the road.

 

The North Bali

North Bali consists mainly of the district of Buleleng. In this part of Bali you will find some very interesting places to visit. Singaraja is the main town of the Buleleng district. Once it was the former colonial capital of Bali.

Close to Singaraja one can find the secluded tourist resort of Lovina Beach. The most well known places in North Bali are Singaraja, Lovina, Banjar Gitgit, Sembiran, Sangsit, Air Sanih, Sangsit, Pemuteran, Menjangan and Seririt. North Bali can easily be reached from the South of Bali (Kuta/Sanur) via various scenic routes, with an average travel time of 3 hour by car depending on the amount of traffic on the road.
